Exploring multi-user interactions with dynamic NFC-displays

چکیده
Near Field Communication (NFC) is an emerging technology for touch-based mobile interactionswith singleandmulti-tagged objects. Although the lattermay allow for simultaneous and collaborative interactions, most prototypes were not designed for multiple users and were only evaluated with single-user interactions. In this paper, we investigate the design, usability and user experience of multi-user interactions on dynamic NFC-displays. These interactive surfaces use a grid of NFC-tags for the direct manipulation of projected application user interfaces. In two user studies with three prototypes for multi-user interaction, we evaluated the performance of dynamic NFC-displays, interactions among users and the interplay between mobile devices and large displays. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Dynamic NFC-Displays as a Prototyping Platform for Direct Mobile Interactions with Public Displays
Mobile interaction with public displays is usually indirect and depends on the limited input features of mobile devices. Dynamic NFC-displays combine the simplicity and directness of mobile interaction with NFC-tagged, physical objects and the visual output capabilities of public displays. In this paper, we explore this technology as a prototyping platform for the development of more direct and...
متن کاملAdvertising with NFC
In this paper we describe our ongoing work and first prototypes in the area of advertising on public screens in combination with mobile devices. We are especially interested in exploiting personal user profiles and explicit input from users in order to provide appropriate advertisement content. Static displays such as paper posters as well as dynamic displays such as projected surfaces or LCD s...
متن کاملAn Interactive Table Supporting Mobile Phone Interaction and 3D Content
Due to the small user interfaces (UI) and screen displays of mobile phones it is inconvenient for multiple users to access and view content on phones simultaneously. As such, integrating multi-touch interactive tables with users’ interactions with the content on their phones can be seen as one approach to augment their experience of viewing that content which becomes as a result unlimited to si...
متن کاملA Revised Mobile KLM for Interaction with Multiple NFC-Tags
The Keystroke-Level Model (KLM) is a model for predicting the execution time of routine tasks. Initially, it had been devised for standard keyboard-desktop settings but an extension of this model for interactions with mobile phones has been described by Holleis et al. [10]. We propose a considerable update of this KLM focusing on NFC-based applications and interactions which are continuously ga...
متن کاملNFC-Based Mobile Interactions with Direct-View Displays
Two NFC-based interactions are described in the paper. The first interaction technique is referred to as Touch & Connect: a process by which an NFC tag is used to rapidly pair a mobile device with a computer. The second interaction technique is referred to as Touch & Select, and considerably extends the Touch & Connect concept by allowing the use of an NFC-enabled mobile phone to directly touch...
